Together they bring this passion, deep knowledge and commitment to bear on the next wave of significant, city shaping projects.

Kristjan brings a passion for  design excellence and rich experience across leading international design practices, as well as several years leading his own successful design studio in Australia and the United States.  

A natural collaborator, he leads large teams executing aspirational, high profile projects with a focus on clients’ functional, operational and cultural needs whilst seeking innovative, research driven solutions.  

Prior to returning to Australia in 2016, Kristjan spent a decade in the United States as creative design leader for such high profile projects as The Commercial Bay Tower in Auckland, the 300m Sheraton Hotel and residences in Wenling, China, Al Qutaifiya mixed use hotel/residential towers in Doha, Al Marwa Station in central Mecca, and the Al Maktoum International Airport in Dubai.

Kristjan holds a B. Arch from the University of Western Australia and a Masters degree in Advanced Architectural Design from Columbia University in New York City.  He studied under Bernard Tschumi, Kenneth Frampton and Juan Herreros at Columbia and his design work has been widely published internationally. He has led Architectural Design studios at Columbia University in New York, Curtin University and UWA and been a visiting critic at The Pratt institute in Brooklyn, NY.

Grant Boshard is an internationally experienced architect who has a proven track record of delivering a range of large, complex, city shaping projects in Australia and around the world. His broad skill base is utilised across all project phases from conceptual design through to project delivery. With over 25 years of experience, 10 of them spent in Australia, Grant has built a reputation as an honest, hardworking and well-grounded leader who garners support through his practical and positive outlook and deep understanding of what is required to deliver successful projects.

 

Grant was Principal in Charge of the award-winning Woods Bagot Perth Studio for a decade before stepping away in 2019 to establish Donaldson Boshard. He has an innate ability to listen and genuinely understand the needs of his clients and as such is excellent at developing client and end user briefs and using these to successfully deliver projects of varying complexities and scales. Through the establishment of collaborative teams and his comprehensive understanding of the design and delivery process, Grant is skilled at effectively integrating and coordinating client, stakeholder and consultant inputs at the right juncture in the life of every project.

 

Grant is also able to leverage his extensive international experience and lessons learnt on projects such as Saadiyat Island St Regis Beach Resort, Omniyat Hotel and Commercial Precinct, Doha Bank Headquarters Building and within the Australian context. In establishing Donaldson Boshard, Grant brings his passion, deep knowledge and commitment to bear on the next wave of significant city shaping projects.
