Responding to the State Heritage listed place this high performance workplace building is made out of trees, with a carefully modulated facade of “garden rooms” and restorative breakout spaces engaging the space of the garden, transforming the experience of the setting and mediating the scale of the city.

A hybrid CLT, glulam &, steel structure is employed to enable a single 15m span across the open floorplate. Excess backspan capacity in the steel beams is utilised to cantilever meeting rooms, balconies and breakout spaces - garden rooms - amongst the trees, transforming the experience of the place and modulating the scale and rhythm of the facade. The lightweight largely prefabricated structural system is low impact compared with conventional systems, meaning a safer, shorter, quieter construction period, minimising disruption to the garden, trees and associated business operations.
